They returned about an hour later. It was night and a full moon shone on what was left of the Xiaolin Temple.

Nothing. It was just an expanse of rubble on the ground. An eerie silence surrounded the area.

Dojo hopped from Omis robe. Master Fung! Oh, Puppy Eyes, where are you?!

They walked on the stones, looking around.

Master Fung? Kimiko called. Elders?

They are gone, Omi said, turning to his friends. You dont think . . . His open-ended thought hung in the air.

Raimundo took a breath. Okay, lets take any wu we can save from the vault; if theyre still there. Well go back to the mountains and discuss our options.

It seemed that no shen gong wu were missing, but most were trapped by rubble. They got what they could and made camp in a cave in the mountians.

Chances are Clay wont find us, Omi said. If that was him.

Kimiko rested her chin in one hand and opened the other. Clay, Hannibal, what difference does it make? Theyre on the same side.

Raimundo looked up with a start. Hey, Master Fung sent word to Master Monk Guan to come here. He should come by tomorrow.

Good, Omi sighed. He can help us.

Wait, Kimiko said. What if Master Fung didnt get a chance to send word to him?

Then . . . Raimundo paused. Well have Dojo fly us to his temple. Well wait awhile though, we dont want to miss him.

They agreed to it and went to sleep.

Dim dawn light hit Kimikos eyelids the next morning. She was facing Raimundo, holding him close, his warmth comforting her. She could feel Omi asleep against her back. She could feel Rais uneven breathing to tell he was awake, but was still too asleep to want to open her eyes.

A few minutes dragged by until she felt Raimundo move his head to look at something. They he sat up.

She watched him walk to the entrance of the cave and look out.

She sat up. What is it?

He turned to her. I . . .thought I heard something.

Master Monk Guan?

No, its way too early for him. He glanced out, then looked back at Kimiko, when a rock fist slammed into his head from outside.

He spun around and fell to the ground, unmoving.

Omi! Kimiko shouted, jumping up.

But then several of the rock creatures that had attacked the temple filled the entrance and one leaped forward, knocking Omi in the head just as he was waking up.

She punched at it. She watched in slow motion as her fist sailed forward, her weight shifting in her feet. The stonemans hand reached forward to her fist. As it did so it grew to three times its size and it caught her attack, completely enveloping her hand, wrist, and some of her arm.

She gasped. The rock creature heaved her into the far wall of the cave.

She hit it hard and fell down. She pushed herself up, growling. She ran forward and jumped into a kick, but two of the stonemen hit her and she hit the other wall.

She fell down, moaning. When she looked up, it was to see a fist hit her, and then she passed out.

Hmm. Not very long, but the next chapter is. I love reviews!
